The Federal Government is closed Wednesday February 10, 2010 according to the OPM Twitter and website. The announcement comes in response to news of a weather forecast for Washington, DC which will add even more snow to the nation's capital. The Federal government was closed on Monday and Tuesday in response to the winter weather as well.
A Tweet from the OPM Twitter announced the news about 3 hours ago via this Tweet:
"For Wednesday, February 10, 2010 Federal agencies in the Washington, DC, area are CLOSED. http://opm.gov/status/ about 3 hours ago from HootSuite"
According to the OPM website, this will mean all Federal agencies in the DC area will be closed. Any non-emergency employees are granted excused absence for the number of hours they're normally scheduled for work. Telework employees will still be expected to report for work from their specific telework sites, while emergency employees are expected to report to work on time, as scheduled.
The announcement that the Federal Government is closed Wednesday has caused a flood of traffic to hit the OPM website, to the point they had to move their access to OPM.gov pages to withstand the visits.
